13 Jun All About Confined Space Training
At Creation World Safety, our mission is to make working environments everywhere safer. We believe that the people involved in work should always be the highest priority, and that’s why we’re dedicated to providing extremely high quality safety training programs to help keep workers safe in dangerous environments. For this blog, we want to talk about one of the most overlooked dangerous environments – confined spaces – and how to keep employees there safe.
What Are Confined Spaces?
A confined space is any place that was not designed for occupancy by people, but is still large enough for workers to perform certain tasks in – they can be storage tanks, vessels, silos, vaults, pits, manholes, tunnels, or any other small, difficult space. They’re usually difficult to enter or exit, and they aren’t made for people to stay in for extended periods of time.
They can also be quite dangerous. Some common hazards in confined spaces include asphyxiation, entrapment, engulfment, oxygen deficiency or saturation, and flammable or toxic substances, just to name a few. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) regulates these areas for the safety of workers there and requires any company requiring its employees to enter a permit-required confined space to provide training on safety practices in these areas.
