Safety Persons in the Field
Whenever someone is working with welding equipment in a confined space or an area with potential fire hazards, it’s absolutely crucial that the welder have a wealth of safety training and knowledge to correctly operate their equipment. But what many people overlook is how important it is that they have back up – someone to watch them who’s been trained as a firewatch or holewatch. The watch checks to ensure the environment is safe, that all procedures are being followed, and they can call for help in case of an emergency. Having a holewatch who is trained to OSHA standards is a necessary part of ensuring the safety of employees in dangerous work environments.
