What Is OSHA?
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, is a federal organization that is part of the United States Department of Labor, and makes sure that working conditions for men and women are both safe and healthy by creating and enforcing basic standards that employers must meet.
They ensure that all standards are met through training, outreach, education, and assistance. It was created in response to the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, and its main goal is protecting the rights and safety of workers. OSHA helps show both workers and employers information about hazards within the workplace and how to avoid such dangers.
OSHA 10 & OSHA 30
There is a strict set of safety standards mandated by the federal government that all businesses must adhere to for compliance with OSHA. Courses are offered for basic corporate safety training and some include CPR, forklift training, and first aid provided by Creation World Safety. Two of these safety courses include OSHA 10 and OSHA 30. OSHA 10 gives general awareness and safety tips that designed for entry-level workers in both general and construction industries. The course is split into two, five-hour classes, and you can become certified once a test is passed upon completion of the total ten hours. OSHA 30 is a more in-depth safety course and is geared toward safety directors and field supervisors. The course is completed attending four, eight-hour sessions, and also requires the passing of a test to become certified.
